Studio computer is working again (mostly)

It's been a week now, so it's time for an update on how successful I was at fixing my studio computer.

Well after 2 new hard drives, 1 new graphics card, and a fresh OS install I'm finally able to make music again... and I must say I'm having a great time doing so (more info on that soon I hope).

There is still one problem though. My monitor randomly turns blank. I supected it was the graphics card, but I got an old monitor out to test (I forgot how heavy those CRT monitors were, I almost broke my neck getting it down off a bookshelf in my house). Sure enough the same issue occurred after some time. $45 later (clearly I'm a big spender) I had a simple, low-profile, graphics card and after installation all seemed well. Until today the problem started again. Now I don't know what to do - it must be an issue with the motherboard right? (which would not suprise me at all actually, since it was a cheap one when I bought it and that was 3-4 years ago)

Oh well... I'll figure it out somehow. On the plus side - it's great to be able to work on new music, and I'm so lucky I was able to retrive all my old raw audio data (although I wasn't able to salvage the drive it was on).

In other news I had a great time DJing at Sin Nightclub in Perth on Saturday night! Thanks to all who came out - and thanks to all who stayed up partying with me too =D

A big weekend, and probably an even bigger week to come.

It's 7:50am Sunday morning right now. The close of a big weekend.

Next week should be very busy. I recently killed my studio computer by overclocking a new CPU too hard. It fried the hard-drive. Luckily I was able to put the hard-drive into Eris' computer and restore most of the data. However there is another drive in my studio computer too, that one is home to all my audio... and this is how silly I am: none of that is backed up! I haven't been able to check that drive at all and I'm completely unsure if it was affected by the overclocking. Lets hope not!

So my goal this week is to get the studio computer up and running again. New hard-drive, fresh OS install, re-installing all programs, and checking that the audio drive is okay. Really, I'm pretty scared that it won't be. I don't know what I will do... I'll lose all the songs that were in-progress and I'll lose all the multi-tracks for the songs I've already written (actually, some of those are backed up). Though it would mean the ones that aren't backed up I won't be able to play live ever again, unless I re-record them.

Oh well... I'll learn to keep back-ups from now on!!

Send me possitive engery and good luck. I'm going to need it this week!

PS. this song is fairly wonderful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJzU9LUWFtM&feature=related

*Edited to fix bad writing, possibly due to lack of sleep*
